    Frequently Asked Questions

    These aren’t interchangeable — pick wrong, and you waste budget. Legacy Java modernization has to get this call right early: rehosting moves your app onto modern infrastructure with minimal code change, but inherits the original architecture’s limits. Re-architecting changes the structure itself. We scope which fits during assessment.

    Not safely. Each LTS release carries its own deprecated APIs and behavioral changes; skipping versions means absorbing all of them in one harder-to-debug jump. We migrate through each intermediate LTS version in sequence – more steps, but every one is verifiable, so a regression points straight to its cause.

    No, a full rewrite is usually the wrong default. We evolve the parts of your Java system that still work and replace only what has to change: a JDK upgrade, a namespace migration, or one troublesome module, not the whole codebase. Full re-architecture is reserved for systems that can’t scale independently.

    Real, and the clock is shorter than most teams assume. This is why Java modernization consulting starts with an inventory, not a guess: free OpenJDK 8 support is already ending on several major vendor distributions in 2026. After that, a new CVE in a library you depend on just sits there unpatched, unless you’re paying for extended support.

    Both, with a boundary. AI handles the mechanical side of Java application modernization – dependency mapping, pattern detection, first-pass documentation – because that’s where it’s reliable. Every actual code change still goes through human review before it ships; we don’t trust AI-generated migration code to grade its own homework.
